Dr. Kirby L. Bunel has practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Texarkana area since 1993. He earned his D.D.S. from Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas in 1988. Dr. Bunel completed his Teaching Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas from 1988 to 1989. He then went on to complete his Residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center, Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas, from 1989 to 1993.
Dr. Bunel has published numerous articles relating to Oral and Maxillofacial surgical procedures. In addition, he has presented on a number of topics.
Continuing Education is of tremendous importance to Dr. Bunel. He has completed a number of continuing education programs and professional meetings that have addressed the latest advancements in oral and facial surgery.
Dr. Bunel has maintained a leadership role with his involvement in various organizations, to include Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Fellow, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a member of The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Bunel is Past-President, First District, Texas Dental Association, Past President, Texarkana Dental Society and President of Texas Component, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Bunel is an active member of the community. He is a member of the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Texarkana. He is a voluntary provider to the Junior League's Children's Dental Clinic. In addition, Dr. Bunel served as Chairman of the dental section in the 1994 United Way Campaign. Currently, he serves on the Medical Executive Committee of Wadley Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Bunel is married to Diana and has a daughter, Meredith, and a son, Luke.
